Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin in the UAE on Monday 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March, depending on the moon sighting. Both dates are astronomical estimates until the UAE announces them: the International Astronomical Center (IAC) calculates a start on 8 February, and the UAE's moon-sighting committee confirms the first and last days only after the crescent is sighted. If the month lasts 30 days, the Eid holiday runs from 9 to 12 March.

When does Ramadan 2027 start in the UAE?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to start on Monday 8 February 2027. The IAC puts the new moon at 15:56 UTC on Saturday 6 February, and its calculated Hijri calendar starts Ramadan on 8 February. In the UAE, the moon-sighting committee under the UAE Council for Fatwa looks for the crescent on the evening of 29 Sha'ban and announces the result that evening: if it is seen, Ramadan starts the next day; if not, Sha'ban runs to 30 days.
So treat 8 February as the working date and keep a day of flexibility either side for anything that depends on it. The National reported the same projection in October 2026, citing astronomers in the UAE. Once the committee announces, the date is fixed; we will update this page then.
When is Eid al-Fitr 2027 in the UAE?
Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March. Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on whether the next crescent is sighted. The IAC puts the next new moon at 09:29 UTC on Monday 8 March, and its calculated calendar starts Shawwal on 9 or 10 March depending on the region, which is why forecasts give both dates.
The UAE confirms Eid on the evening the committee looks for the Shawwal crescent. If it is seen on 29 Ramadan, Eid is the next day; if not, Ramadan completes 30 days and Eid follows.
How long is the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2027?
The UAE's public holiday list gives Eid al-Fitr as 1 to 3 Shawwal, and adds 30 Ramadan as a holiday if the month runs to 30 days. The same holidays apply to the public and private sectors. On the expected dates, that means Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 March, or Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 March if Ramadan has 30 days.
Under Article 3 of Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024 on public holidays, a holiday is not moved to another day when it falls on a weekend or on another holiday. The government confirms the exact days in advance: for Eid in 2026, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) announced the federal government holiday of 19 to 22 March on 23 February, about four weeks ahead. Expect a similar notice in February 2027.
What changes in the UAE during Ramadan?
Working days are shorter, and many places stay open later into the evening. According to u.ae, the UAE government portal, working hours fall by two hours a day for Muslim and non-Muslim employees alike, with no cut in pay. Supermarkets keep their usual hours, malls stay open late, and attractions stay open.
Working hours: two hours shorter a day under the labour law, for all employees, without a pay cut.
Eating out: malls have restaurants and food courts with areas set apart from people who are fasting; some restaurants change their daytime hours or close by day, then open fully at iftar.
Shops: grocery shops and supermarkets keep normal hours; malls stay open until late at night.
Things to do: amusement parks, cultural and tourist sites stay open, so a visit or a family stay can carry on as planned.
Parking: paid parking hours change during Ramadan; the meters show the current times, and each emirate's transport authority publishes the details.
Prayer and iftar times: the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat publishes daily prayer times by city; iftar is at the sunset (Maghrib) prayer.
u.ae links to Ramadan pages for Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah, which carry each emirate's events and local details. If you are staying in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, check the parking times there: they are set by each emirate, not federally.
During Ramadan, the day's main meal comes at sunset, with iftar.
Can non-Muslims eat in public during Ramadan in the UAE?
Non-Muslims are not required to fast, and u.ae welcomes them to share the atmosphere of the month, especially after sunset. The portal does not set out a rule on eating in public; it points to dining areas in malls set apart from people who are fasting, and to restaurants that stay open. Eating and drinking discreetly in daylight is the simple courtesy.
In a serviced apartment, your own kitchen makes this easy: you can keep your usual mealtimes, and prepare suhoor before dawn or iftar at sunset if you are fasting. Our guide to apartments for home cooking covers what to look for in a kitchen.

Budget: each listing shows its monthly price and security deposit, and our monthly offers page collects current deals.
Dates: if your booking depends on the exact first day or Eid, ask for flexibility of a day or two until the UAE announces.
These dates are estimates 8 February and 9 or 10 March come from astronomical calculations. The UAE confirms the start of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr after the moon sighting, and the government announces the holiday days. We will update this page when it does.
