Etihad Rail Passenger Train: Stations, Tickets and Stays Beyond Dubai

A white intercity passenger train crossing an open desert plain at golden hour, with rugged mountains on the horizon

The Etihad Rail passenger train now runs between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid in Sharjah and Fujairah, with Comfort Class fares from AED 39 between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and from AED 55 between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Etihad Rail has scheduled Madinat Zayed and Liwa stations to open on 30 November 2026, the remaining Al Dhafra stations on 30 December 2026 and Sharjah Station on 30 March 2027. Abu Dhabi's station is in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, on the mainland, so if you are staying on the Corniche or Yas Island, book the shuttle bus with your ticket.

Fares and timetables below were read on Etihad Rail's booking site on 29 October 2026 for travel on Tuesday 3 November; the rules come from its Passenger Charter.

  • Open now: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid and Fujairah, each from 05:00 to 23:00.
  • Journey times: Abu Dhabi to Dubai 1 hour 4 minutes; Abu Dhabi to Fujairah 1 hour 51 minutes on the fastest train.
  • Tickets: Etihad Rail app, etihadrail.ae, station ticket machines or 800 RAIL (800 7245). Sales close 5 minutes before departure.
  • Luggage: two items free per passenger, with a carry-on of up to 55 × 40 × 23 cm.
  • Discounts: 50% for children up to 17, 20% for passengers aged 60 and over.

Which Etihad Rail stations are open?

Four stations are open: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid and Fujairah. Passenger services began between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on 30 June 2026, and Dubai and Al Dhaid stations followed on 30 September. Etihad Rail says the finished network will connect 11 cities and regions, from Al Sila' in the far west of Abu Dhabi to Fujairah on the east coast.

For Tuesday 3 November, the cheapest one-way adult fares on the booking site were AED 39 from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, AED 55 from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah and AED 29 between Dubai and Fujairah, in Comfort Class. The Dubai Media Office gave the same starting fares, AED 39 and AED 109, at the September launch. On 29 October the site listed trains only up to Friday 6 November, so look again closer to the day if your date comes up empty.

Saver, Value or Flex: which ticket should you buy?

Buy Saver if your plans are fixed, Value if you might change the day or time, and Flex if you might cancel. No fare lets you change the route, and a missed Saver or Value ticket is simply lost. All three fares are sold in Comfort and Premium Class, and each leg of a return follows its own rules.

How do you get to the Etihad Rail station in Abu Dhabi?

Abu Dhabi Station is in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, on the mainland, not on Abu Dhabi island. Etihad Rail runs shuttle buses timed to the trains from four stops: ADNOC Headquarters on Corniche Road West, ADNEC Centre on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, Reem Mall on Al Reem Island and Yas Mall's north entrance. Book the shuttle with your train ticket.

  • Book ahead: shuttle seats are sold only in the app or on the website, not at the station. On 29 October the booking flow offered the shuttle to Abu Dhabi Station from AED 10. Etihad Rail lists the stops as operating from 07:00 to 21:00.
  • Leave spare time: Etihad Rail's promise to rebook you after a missed connection covers its own trains, not the Abu Dhabi shuttle buses, the Dubai Metro or taxis.
  • Other ways in: every station has a taxi and ride-hailing zone, and the Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah stations list car rental and a car park. The charter says parking is charged automatically through Q Mobility's MAWAQiF system.
  • From your apartment: on the Abu Dhabi Corniche the nearest shuttle stop is ADNOC Headquarters; on Yas Island, it is Yas Mall. Check the walk from your building to the stop on a map before you book.

How much luggage can you take on Etihad Rail?

Each passenger aged 3 and over can bring two items of luggage free, whatever the ticket: a personal item that fits under the seat and a carry-on of up to 55 × 40 × 23 cm for the overhead rack. Infants share the adult's allowance. Ask for extra baggage in advance through the app, website, Contact Centre or a station.

  • Strollers: folded before boarding; one per child is carried free.
  • Not allowed: bicycles, e-scooters and e-bikes.
  • Pets: dogs and falcons may travel in an approved carrier of up to 55 × 40 × 23 cm, which replaces your carry-on.

Moving in with big suitcases? The charter gives sizes only for a personal item and a carry-on, and it bars oversized or bulky luggage. If you are arriving for a month with large cases, ask Etihad Rail before you book, or take a taxi on moving-in day and use the train once you have settled in.

What do you need on the day of travel?

  • ID that matches the ticket: it can be checked at the gate and on board. Bring proof of age for a child or senior fare.
  • Timing: arrive at least 20 minutes before departure; boarding gates close 2 minutes before the train leaves.
  • Families: children up to 17 pay half price, and children under 14 must travel with an adult. An infant up to 2 travels free on an adult's lap.
  • On board: free Wi-Fi and a power socket at every seat. Premium Class adds wider seats with more legroom and complimentary drinks.

Planning a month outside Dubai around the train

Most listings on ServicedApartments.ae have a 30-night minimum stay, so the train is for weekends and day trips once you have settled in.

  • Abu Dhabi: the shuttle stops on Corniche Road West, at Reem Mall and at Yas Mall serve the city and Yas Island. Browse serviced apartments in Abu Dhabi by area and check which stop is nearest.
  • Fujairah: our Fujairah apartments are in the city, along Kuwait Road, while the station is in Al Hilal City, so plan a taxi between the two. The daily direct train reaches Dubai in 1 hour 10 minutes.
  • Sharjah: Al Dhaid Station is in the emirate's interior, not in Sharjah city. Until Sharjah Station opens, scheduled for 30 March 2027, rail is not a practical option from a stay in Sharjah city.
  • Dubai: the station sits beside Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station, linked by a pedestrian bridge. The Dubai Media Office said at the launch that one QR code works across the train, Metro, tram and buses through nol.
